Creck Hardware and General Supplies successfully participated in multiple phases of the Malawi Rural Electrification Programme (MAREP) between 2018 and 2025.

These projects, implemented under the Ministry of Energy and Mining, were aimed at expanding electricity access, strengthening rural power distribution networks, and improving energy infrastructure across various districts in Malawi.

Project Scope and Deliverables

Throughout the project period, Creck Hardware was engaged in the supply and delivery of a wide range of electrical infrastructure components and materials, including:

  • Supply and delivery of power transformers for rural electrification and network expansion projects under the Ministry of Energy and Mining.
  • Supply and delivery of MAREP 9 power line additional materials to support ongoing electrification works.
  • Supply and delivery of MAREP 9 transformers for distribution network upgrades and new connections.
  • Supply and delivery of various electrical cables used in rural power distribution systems.
  • Supply and delivery of bolts and nuts used for the installation and reinforcement of electrical infrastructure.
  • Supply and delivery of single-phase prepaid energy meters, totaling 30,000 units, to support improved metering, revenue collection, and energy management in rural areas.

Project Implementation and Impact

All materials supplied under the MAREP projects were delivered in compliance with the technical specifications and standards set by the Ministry of Energy and Mining. Creck Hardware ensured efficient procurement, quality assurance, and timely delivery to support the smooth implementation of rural electrification works nationwide.

The provision of transformers, conductors, and associated hardware contributed significantly to expanding electricity access in rural communities. In addition, the supply of prepaid energy meters improved billing efficiency, reduced non-revenue electricity losses, and promoted sustainable energy consumption practices.
