About Savenda Electronics


Savenda Electronics Limited is part of the SAVENDA Group of companies which includes Savenda Radio, Savenda General Insurance, Savenda Electric, Cyber Africa, Gojestic Energy Limited, Savenda Telelcoms, ADAS Zambia, Savenda Xpress Printing, United Bus Company of Zambia (UBZ 2020), Refined Oil Products (ROP 2020) and many others. It is a wholly owned Zambian company which was incorporated in December 2004.


In 2020, the company’ holding company, Savenda Management Services Limited, signed an exclusive partnership agreement with EDMI Limited, whose headquarters are in Singapore and SH-meters and Stron Technologies of China to enable Savenda Electronics Limited manufacture various types of Smart electricity and water meters for the entire SADC and COMESA markets. The benefits of the prepaid meters being manufactured by Savenda are as follows:


  • Improving the revenue collection for water utilities.
  • Reducing Revenue collection Losses as well as technical losses through high accuracy smart metering system.
  • Managing consumers’ water consumption to match the water supplied to reduce water shortage and save water.
  • Upgrade the Revenue Collection and Protection System to reduce the billing cycle and improve cash flow.
  • Develop the Customer Relationship Management CRM department through the implementation of the Meter Data Management system connected to the Smart Meters using Advanced Communication Technologies.


STAGES IN PRODUCTION

  1.  Box Building 1The first process in production line is Mounting Gearbox and Magnetic ring into the meter. This is the main frame that holds all components in the meter.
  2.  Box Building 2 : The second process is to mount meter register which is responsible for meter reading, measuring chamber on the mechanical part and other components into the meter body
  3. Box building 3The third process is then to Fix the PCB and battery into the meter body / Cap tightening together with the main frame of the meter.
  4. Box building 4Then the fourth process is by Testing CIU and meter connectivity
  5. Calibration :The fifth process is to Calibrate the meter for maximum permissible error which can occur in accordance to class of the meter
  6. VerificationThe sixth process is to Confirmation for maximum permissible error value and from there the meter can proceed to the next stage then the report on the meter performance is generated.
  7.  Laser Marking The seventh process is Laser making (Writing) on meter according to methodology and technical specification as well as meter serial number
  8. Final Configuration Confirm meter and CIU connectivity and generate a report on the meter
  9. Seal meters Seal meters for fraudulent protection
  10.  Final InspectionThen the other process is to generate Bar code for the meter, read meter ID with system tools, conduct physical inspection, Quality inspection and Generate a report on the meters
  11. Parking :Lastly the meters are Pack / Seal boxes ready for dispatch, stick meter ID list
